MC, virtually any viewing software will do this.  If you open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager you can just select Edit Pictures at the top and you'll find an option to resize on the right hand side.  Remember to save as a different filename if you want to keep your original high res pictures.

I find the best software for doing this in multiples is ACDSee.

If I had a fast connection I would suggest to send them to me but that size will take an age, you could ask John.sw when he gets back tomorrow, he'll kill me for saying that but what the hell  :D

Cheers
Malc
PS: You need them about 25% of that size to upload them easily to the gallery here!
Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

Photoshop does a great job in this, cuts down the files size without resizing the picture!!

Yup Irfanview is a good image editing sw, it can even resize and rename photos for you in a batch process (multiple files)

The only problem with reducing the size is that you loose quality, I wouldn't reduce the size (eg Save as a Jpeg etc) without having a backup of the original already - A good solution would be to have an MP3 player that can put files on to it, something with 40Gb or so would easily be able to handle a copy of your files until you reach home.  Another lossless solution would be too ZIP them up, although don't know how well Jpeg files zip....

your workflow with IRFANVIEW...

1. Take a copy... Enhance colors in full resolution!!!!

2. Resize/Resample your image

Attached File  Resize.jpg   81.53K   33 downloads

3. Sharpen

4. Save as... JPEG

Ready...

If you add these free plugins, you got nearly a "full photoshop"...  :)

Well, I always use Adobe Photoshop to reduce the size of the pictures.  Photoshop actually reduces only the size of the file and it does affect the resolution of the picture more than 10% of the actual resolution.  For example, I have reduced a file size from 4 MB to 450 KB with this software, without actually compromising too much on the resolution.
