Has anyone got any experience of posting (or using some other method) to get bags from one place in India to another?
I'm specifically talking about soft shell bike bags. I was hoping to fly to Delhi and then on to Leh, and some how have our bike bags sent to the place where we're going to end up.
Does that sound like a reasonable idea, or the ravings of a lunatic...?

Hi Stylerz
Firstly welcome to India Tree.
You'll find that the India Post Office is very efficient and very cheap within India or to outside for that matter.
You'll obviously need an address of somewhere that can take your delivery on your behalf, maybe a hotel you'll be arriving at but please make sure they will accept it for you.
I'd recommend using EMS speedpost as this is a signed for service so you can prove an item has been delivered if there is a dispute.
I'd also recommend wandering into a tailor (some large post offices have a tailor within) and have your complete bag stitched inside a cloth bag, cost of around 50 - 100rs. If there is irreplaceable valuables within then I would reccommend insurance too!
You can check postal weights and prices on their website India Post .
Since August last year I have posted over 4000 parcels to other countries from India, I have lost 2 and had 2 damaged. Even DHL can't claim success like that!
Hope that helps

Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

From a pedantic point of view,it's not just Indian Postal service which is efficient, the respective country's postal system which did the last mile delivery counts too.
so.....the stories of the postman going off to play golf,as the SUN claims, are not necessarily true
yeah, picky.....
