I've seen ads for scooter hire here in Bangalore too....
And Cap'n, you can hire cars (self drive) in many of the cities. Small as well as the bigger operators like Hertz. You can hire a Maruti or a larger vehicle.

satty, I was thinking more along the lines of hiring a car in delhi and returning it in another city kind of thing.coz hanging on to the car for three/four weeks becomes expensive, unlike the kinetic website (even if it is a scooter and not a car)

Coorg is where we went when I hired this zen. Saved my car cares from the torture.....
Have you spoken to Hertz about returning car in another city? Since they are a chain.....

yeah I did, in delhi. no dice.
apparently they had insurance issues and so were not doing this.
I think they are still to get this organised, though.

If you want the comfort of having insurance and (I'd imagine) a new bike in good condition, it's not a bad deal. Rs 3750 for a month for a good bike is pretty good.
There are much cheaper bikes to rent in Goa, though.
I rented a Kinetic last Winter for Rs. 8000 for 4 months. At about 65 rps a day it was really good value. Admittedly it had no insurance, the tyres were bald and I doubt it would've passed any MOT or anything in the West but it never broke down on me once in the whole Winter. I loved that little bike - did almost 1000 kms on it over the 4 months
When you're paying that much, though, it often becomes worth your while to buy a second-hand one and sell it when you move on.
