Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on how to find work on the spot in India if you are a foreigner. I don't speak Hindi, but am fluent in English and Spanish. Does anyone know about English teaching jobs, tourism jobs, or anything else that would be easy to get as an English speaker? I don't care about making lots of money, I just want to be able to have enough for a cheap place to stay and food. I love trekking so something like a guide would be ideal.
Any ideas??
Thanks, much love!!

Hi Rachaelita, and welcome to the India Tree!
If you have a particular skill that an Indian doesn't have, it should not be too difficult to find work - depending on your location.
There is quite a lot of work for qualified teachers of English, and maybe Spanish too?
But to work in India you need a Business Visa or an Employment Visa (if you want to work for an Indian company), and you can't get a Business Visa or an Employment Visa unless you already have a job!
The duration of the visa period depends on the employment contract. In addition to the contract, an appointment letter, the applicant's resumé, and proof that the organization is registered in India are also needed.
Contact your local consulate or embassy.

There is nothing to stop you from working as a "friend" or volunteer and having your accommodation and food given to you in return, but if the authorities find that you have a job they will take a very dim view...
Does anyone else have experience of holdiay jobs in India?
