Radio Mirchi are aiming for one lakh Bangaloreans to SMS "no 8888" in support of No Smoking In Public Places. True enough, the pubs of Blore allow smoking when you're drinking which I find refreshing being from England where smoking is now banned from public places, I think... Well it is in Liverpool anyway. Granted some non-smoking folk find breathing cigarette smoke unpleasant to breathe in, especially if they have asthma and that's fair enough but why not say just that instead of screaming "your smoke is killing me with cancer!" with shed-loads of fake indignation? Smoking is banned in parks, in the open air, in Bangalore, isn't that enough? I wonder if Mirchi make any cash (or cache) out of their campaign... Harrumph!

so you can smoke in a pub in Bangalore, but not in a park where the wind will blow the smoke away???

here in perth smoking is banned in all workplaces except certain entertainment places (pubs, clubs etc) but even that is not uniform. there is a push from certain quarters to have it banned outdoors as well.

I personally can't see the problem with smoking outdoors, as long as you don't sit on someone's lap and light up :P

btw, i'm an ex smoker.
just is.

"smokers have feelings too.."

Ya? What does it look like?
Just kiinding :P

I don't think Radio Mirchi really has much of a concern for smokers or non-smokers. Each time you send sms, they make $$ and that's all that counts for them. Smoking is just an excuse.

Thats right, you can go to Lal Bagh park, deficate all you want virtually anywhere, set up a tent and live there, throw your filth and rubbish as close as you can to the bin without actually getting it inside but "oh no sir, smoking is not allowed"   Another great piece of logic!  :P

I'm happy not to smoke anywhere that it is not allowed but they really should enforce rules to the other problems!
Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

sorry!..no sympathy for smoking :) .  dont spoil the air for me..already its bad enough with the pollution and add to it...I need this.

I go to the park to enjoy fresh air..not some smoker who is sitting next to me..and puffing away...park spaces are less in India and with the huge populations..we need every inch we get of green oasis's and fresh air....and without anyone smoking near me...

go smoke in your home!

go radio mirchi!
