I am exploring a cheaper option to travel from Bangalore to Guwahati. I wonder if anyone can share which flights are a better options available?

I travelled to Guwahati 2 months ago. And I actually did not find any cheap option! I took Jet Airways, changed flights at Kolkata and paid a little over 6K
I think it will cost almost the same in most of the flights. Not sure about Air Deccan though. I did not consider AD as an option because they don't have a direct flight, and if they get delayed and you miss the connecting flight, you are in a soup.
I think other airlines take care of such situation and put you on the next flight(not sure, but they usually do, as I know). But air deccan clearly says they are not responsible.
