Title :: Shahi Paneer

Ingredients ::
  • 250gms Paneer, Diced into –1-1/2 inch by 1 inch pieces.
  • 100gms Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Capsicum (green or red pepper) I use a mix of red, green & yellow peppers, looks very good.
  • 2 tablespoon of poppy seed paste,
  • 2 tablespoon of cashew nut paste
  • Green chillies, to taste
  • A few Fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking.
Description ::
Simple but delicious cottage cheese dish

Beat yogurt and keep aside .
Add a few green chillies with the poppy seed & cashew paste.
Heat two tablespoons of oil in a saucepan.
Saute paneer pieces and thinly cut capsium. Keep aside.
Sprinkle fenugreek seed to the oil. When it starts spluttering add the poppy seed & cashew paste. Stir well until the moisture evaporates.
Mix iin yoghurt, paneer and capsicum pieces. Stir, cover and cook in a low flame for 5 minutes. Add salt.
When the liquid is almost evaporated, remove from heat & serve.

Sounds fantastic, must find somewhere in Swansea that sells poppy seed and cashew paste so that I can give it a try.

Paneer is my all time favourite ingredient.

Jyoti is Paneer high in cholestrol? Could you use firm tofu instead?. Once in a while I don't mind splurging on the fat but I am scared about some of these products, especially ghee. Once I was making some food and put ghee in a pot on high heat, it took a while for that block of ghee to melt, just imagine that in my arteries.

Sorry the paneer isn't all that bad. Boil milk and add some acid like lemmon juice let the paneer form.....

jyotirmoy is right....I make mine with skim milk and it is wonderful!
It's a fine day to work off some excess energy.....Let's steal something heavy.~
