Thinking of taking my wife for her first trip to India in mid November and would be flying into and out of Delhi. I am willing to spend a few extra bucks to give her a soft beginning to the trip.
I thought somewhere in South Delhi might be a good idea. I’ve looked at a couple of accommodation possibilities in Nizamuddin East, which seems to be an interesting neighbourhood with a number of nice parks and historical monuments nearby. It is also near Nizamuddin Railway Station for our next leg of the trip to Udaipur or Haridwar.
My plan would be to spend a couple of days in this area and not wander much further than the Lodhi Gardens and Nizamuddin. We would be flying out of Delhi a few weeks later and spend a couple of days in Old Delhi at that time.
Any other ideas for a soft landing in Delhi would be much appreciated.

Hi Lieth, welcome to Delhi. Please check whether trains going to Udaipur and Haridwar depart from NZM station, I don't think they do. The time you have chosen is very good. You can also look up hotels in Karolbagh and Rajindernagar as these places are connected by metro which makes commuting easy.
Feel free to ask me any thing about Delhi.

Thanks mate, a very generous offer. I have read and enjoyed your Delhi posts and if I require anything more specific I’ll be sure to ask. I had a great time in your city last visit but 24hrs was not enough time to do it justice.
The Mewar Express leaves from Nizamuddin station for Udaipur and a couple of less than perfect timings go to Haridwar from there.
I’ll probably opt for a car and driver for local transport, as I want to use my time as efficiently as possible. I would be thankful of some itinerary advice after I’ve done more research.
