Today’s newspaper had this bizarre news.
A working couple in Bangalore had employed a maid for keeping house and taking care of their bay. One day the mother came back home from work unexpectedly and found her maid dozing before the TV after a sumptuous lunch and there was no sign of the baby.
On interrogation it surfaced that the maid was taking off the clothes worn by the baby and wrap him with rags after the couple left home for work. There after the maid was feeding the child some sedatives and then rented the baby to beggars for Rs.100/- a day.
Police has promised strict punishment but convictions are rare and court cases drag on. Well in a way it is ok cause if swift justice and convictions happen we will have to use all our funds for building jails all over the country.

I'm sorry
but I must have a warped sense of humour. I thought this was hilarious and extremely innovative. I can't understand why these maids hadn't thought of this before - except the sedating, of course.
I wonder how the 'rentees' (or should that be 'rentor') fared?
Oh India!

Such is the sad state of affairs!
Only in India! Growing up, used to read up Readers Digest section on 'Life in these Americas' Maybe we should have a thread on "Only in India"
Also, sadly British has installed a legal system where they seemed "Just" but the system was ingeniously designed to protect the rich (read British businessman). Thanks a lot...
