I am not sure what to make of the lack of Sympathy shown for the victims and their Families affected by this tragedy
from all you so called India lovers on this site.
PRETTY ORDINARY
vandy
BTW, First reports said that 2 Foreign Tourists were amongst the dead, this is NOT the case.

i think we have all read about it somewhere and are upset. not posting doesn't mean we are not touched by this tragedy.
there have certainly been more dramatic incidents closer to home this week that have occupied my attention.

IWGB, None more dramatic than my wife Learning that she has a Skin Cancer. and had to go under the knife.
Couldn't get any closer to home than that.
Good on ya CH, it definetly won't be the Last, one would imagine. Give my best Rgds to that Lunatic Chief Minister,Mr Modi

This happens in India... none of the tourists were wearing life jackets. The whole lot rushed to one side of the boat to look at elephants and that made the boat to turn & topple. Incidently most of them were from Delhi.
Dear Vandy, very sad to learn that your wife has skin cancer, I pray for her speedy recovery. Please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear your news, vandy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sincerely hoping that this is one of the types of skin cancer that's very, very treatable.
As for the Thekady boat accident, yes, I think most of us heard or read about it and felt it was a tragedy - but in the state where I live, the same number of people are murdered every 5 days.
So we are surrounded by tragedies and not commenting on every one of them doesn't mean we don't care.

Vandy and all, I've posted elsewhere on this topic, and this kind of human tragedy seems to occur on a daily basis in India. Some hyped, some not.
I cannot imagine how many wives, husbands, daughters, sons, mothers, fathers + 25,000 suffer every day.
So, what is our extra-ordinary contribution to alleviate the situation? :

Kurnool (AP), Oct 2 (PTI) About 25,000 people were today trapped in Kurnool town as worst floods in recent memory inundated the district in Andhra Pradesh triggered by heavy rains in Karnataka, where the death toll rose to 86 in rain-related incidents.
With river Tungabhadra in spate due to heavy rains in north Karnataka, the famous temple town of Mantralaya, the seat of Raghavendra Mutt in Kurnool district, was submerged under water and people climbed to rooftops to save themselves from flood ravage.
Krishna and Guntur districts braced for the worst with heavy discharge expected from Srisailam reservoir in Kurnool district which is likely to receive a staggering 12 lakh cusecs of water in the next 12 hours, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah told a press conference in Hyderabad in the evening. http://www.ptinews.c...-Kurnool-floods

Thank you all for your kind wishes, thoughts and prayers for Mrs V.
The Surgery has been completed and so far so good, Now we wait Anxiously for Biopsy results.
jyotirmoy, many thanks for your kind offer, much appreciated.
As far as the Thekkady Boat incident, I was also hoping to hear from members who may have taken a similar boat ride on
Lake Periyar and see what their experience was like, I did not have the time to do this myself when in Kumily last year.
Thanks again all and will keep you posted on Mrs V's progress.
