:) H@H, really off topic now!  You know, once you've been struck by lightning........bijli....you never forget! :D

My binding with Jawa goes a long long way,  dad came back home one day after a 3-400km ride(HYD & back). Someone told me that the silencer is really nice to hold. I did. I've not forgotten.   :)

Thanks for those pictures, Jitendra on  GT-50 is priceless! And thanks for the story about Bond! :)

BTW, I sold my 'original' Honda 100cc for Rs.11,500.00 before I left India. I had bought it for net Rs.15,000.00. Many many weekend trips to the village on a single tank. " Fill it. Shut it. Forget it. ".  True.

John

I believe that is the Bullet 500 that you have. Nice bike, something I want to get although the 350 may be more suitable.

How are you liking it? Please let us know.

Also, your contact never got back to me.

Cheers

Hey, guys! I am just about to leave for India, and I am planning on buying my first bike when I get there. I've decided on a scooter actually (as much as part of me really wants to drive a real motorcycle).

But, I need some advice. I am torn between the TVS Scooty and the Honda Activa. I love the look of the new Scooty Streak, but I'm concerned that it has a lot less power than the Honda. But, I don't like the look of the Honda Activa ...  Does the Scooty have enough power to get me around town? I'm new at driving in India so I don't plan on going really fast (at least for a few months).  And ease of handling is a big priority. I'm also worried that a heavier bike might be harder for me to handle. Thoughts?

Or are there other good options (with some personality and handling AND some power to it?) within about the same price range? (about 50,000 INR total is my max).

hi there this is my first time on this site I want to ask a question but not sure eaht to do any help would be great

Hmmm...  Part of me really wants a real motorbike, not just a scooter. But that 217 curb weight of the Honda might be a little heavy for me. :indiaflag:  I'll just let you guys drive me around ... or (even better) borrow your bikes for a while.  You can, of course, borrow my Scooty whenever the urge takes you. Hahaha.

I was never much into smoking, other than plain tobacco. Drink? yes. A fault perhaps!?  :D ;)

Ah, that was Feroz Khan, the original Khans.

It's the Machismo 500 LB.  I love the bike.  Of course it is very under-powered for a 500cc bike made in 2009, but it is a 1950's design, which is what gives it all that character!

I've only covered 1000km, but it's great fun to ride, and I have a superb playground here in the Nilgiris, including the Segur Ghat road up to Ooty which has 36 hairpin bends and climbs 1 mile into the sky, and the whole of the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on my doorstep.

The only problems that I have had have been with the Royal Enfield company. The bike was built to order in Chennai, and shipped to their showroom in Coimbatore for pre-delivery checks.  It arrived a month late and was the wrong colour.  I ordered a black bike because I wanted a black bike, not a grey one!  All Royal Enfield could say was, "Same bike sir, only the colour is different"..

When the black one that I had ordered eventually arrived here it had a dented petrol tank, two dents in the front mudguard, a damaged exhaust manifold and a brass rivet missing from one of the leather panniers. They had also failed to fit the crash bar which I had specified, saying that they had been unable to get one!

I now have a new petrol tank, and the crash bars.  The mudguard has been repaired, but I will have to wait until last Wednesday (they promised to come 5 days ago but haven't turned up) for my new exhaust manifold!

A lovely bike, but completely let down by company staff who seem to believe that a customer who pays top price for an Enfield (I paid 1.2 lakhs on the road with leather panniers and crash bars) deserves damaged goods and extremely poor after sales service.
