Hi, a friend of mine soon will move to Delhi for a new job.
Does anyone knows any vacant room or apartment in a nice position and...not too expensive??  :D

Hi dear Serena,
Can you tell  me where is your friend's work place? Transportation is an issue in Delhi, so if possible one should look for accomodation near the work place.
Usually one needs to take the services of property dealers who work in the chosen area. They charge a month's rent for the services. The following areas are recommended:
Defence colony
New friends colony
Vasant kunj
These are located in south Delhi, but if your friend's work place is in central part I would recommend areas like New Rajinder nagar in west Delhi for metro connectivity.

Hi jyoti da!
The area is Defense Colony.
She's searching for a room with private bathroom in a shared apartment because I think that Delhi is very expensive!
If everything will go right she'll leave at the end of July.
We wanna meet each other if it's possible at the end of my next trip in Ladakh (l'll leave the 6/8 and go back the 27/8).
...but I'll have only one day to stay in Delhi...maybe we can meet this time??  :D
Hope so!

And I thought I was looking for cheap accomodation in Delhi!!   :D  :D

Speaking of, anyone have any good contacts near JNU? Looking for someplace 2 BR, unfurnished, 8000 - 10,000 per month. I want clean but nothing fancy. I am looking at Munirka, but it seems like it might be cheaper to be a bit further out. Perhaps Muniyar Nagar or Sarfardunj, or is that too far?  Either of the Vasant (Kunj or Vihar) are possibilities, too... I won't be there for a week or two  but am hoping to get settled within two weeks of arriving. :)

Dear Jyoti,
Munirka would be best locality, an unfurnished 2 BR apartment would be around Rs.12000/- a month. These are Delhi Development Authority construction, nothing fancy.

Oh!!  Makes so much more sense! :D

I don't have any specific leads but I've been looking at sulekha.com. You can choose by area. 12-15000 seems pretty reasonable... but I'm only starting to look for housing in Delhi, not actually living there yet. :D  even if you don't want to rent before seeing it, this might help you get started.
