Ok, Lets talk about the whole albums that you keep on listening to again and again. Not one or two songs but each and everyone of them.. :D

Well.. for starters I would list a couple of Hindi music albums !!
1) Deewana- This is by far the best album by Sonu Nigam. The kind of romantic melodious songs you can hear in the night while sitting on the terrace with a vodka in your hand :)

2) Made in India- And this is the best album by Alisha Chinoy. India's answer to madonna. For once, she let the music and the songs talk instead of her body and the results are amazing. This album brought about the revolution in indi-pop music and is still the highest seller as far as private albums are concerned.

3) Aks - Music Director Anu Malik gave us a gem in Aks (the debut movie of "RDB" fame Rakesh mehra) very unconventional and inspiring (well.. at least in this case anu malik was not "inspired" by others)

More later...... :)

Wow!  Thanks for the recommendations Phantom, I'll see if I can download them for a listen.

My favourites change all the time but at the minute it's:

Ha - Talvin Singh.  I LOVE him, but Ha is my favourite.  There's something about his rhythms that gets my fingers flying across the keyboard all day.  See Breeze is a brilliant track.

Veneer - Jose Gonzales.  Virtually meaningless lyrics that paint lovely images in your head, set to a Spanish guitar.  Simple and unadorned, absolutely beautiful.  Makes me serene in the face of corporate madness - I've played it to death.....

Hounds of Love - Kate Bush.  I recently re-discovered this.  Hadn't played it since the 80s.  Great use of sounds like helicopters, trains, etc. that aren't usually considered musical, and knock-out tunes - Waking the Witch / Running up that Hill / Jig of Life.  This is her at her best I think.

P*U*L*S*E by Pink Floyd

I never listened to another album more than this one as a teenager. I guess this should be my all time favourite. I can still go numb with Gilmour's rendition of Comfortably Numb.

Hi everybody, thanks for the interesting tread. One thing that jumps to my attention: there seem to be quite a few people here into a particular (hippy) sound such as the Doors, Pink Floyd, Vangelis etc. Now I'm guessing, and please correct me if I'm wrong  ;)  that the average age group here is just a bit older than myself. And it goes without saying that there's nothing wrong with that!!
Sorry, don't mean to sound rude at all but I'm just curious...  :D
For example, I'm in my early 30" and personally find Pink Floyd really depressing and don't get the whole connection thing with India.
A lot of places in India seem to have at least one Pink Floyd café. And to me the people in these café's all seem to look very doom & gloom (at the risk of generalising but hey, I'm half Dutch I dare to generalise!)
I'm in to music in a big way and I spin vinyl in my spare time. I'm talking dance music, Detroit Techno, German electro etc.
Now I'm also passionate about Indian music from Lata & Asha, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Kishore Kumar, Baul music to Midival Punditz, Nitin Sawhney,Talvin Sing etc. (sorry, I could just go on and on when it comes to music! ) but I'm also into my dance stuff.
Even when I'm India where I live for part of the year.
And no, I don't go to raves in Goa or Israeli Trance parties but I do for example like to go to clubs such as Elevate in Delhi & Enigma in Bombay just as much as I love staying home all day listening to Ghazals or Bhajans.
So I'm curious, does anybody share my eclectic taste of music or do you tend to stick to a particular genre.
Would be very interested to hear from you.

Well.. it depends on the mood. Sometime you are in a sombre mood and you want to listen to Dylan, Rafi. Then sometimes you are in a cheerful mood and you want to listen to Prince and sometimes you are in  a dancing mood and you want to listen to usher or diff. types of trance.
And you are the first to associate pink floyd with age group :D Quite a few of my friends are floyd fans and they are in their early 20s. So yeah, your generalizations are not quite correct !!

Look out of any window, any morning, any evening, any day.
Maybe the sun is shining, birds are singing,
No rain is falling from a heavy sky.
What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk out of any doorway, feel your way, feel your way like the day before.
Maybe you'll find direction,
Around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you.
What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you are sleeping?
The please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too.

Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear to another day,
Maybe been seen before, through other eyes on other days while going home.
What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk into splintered sunlight,
Inch your way through dead dreams to another land.
Maybe you're tired and broken,
Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear

What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.

Just a box of rain, wind and water,
Sun and shower, wind and rain,
In and out the window like a moth before a flame.

And it's just a box of rain, I don't know who put it there,
Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare.

And it's just a box of rain, or a ribbon for tour hair;
Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

ITS RAINING IN DELHI !!!!!

I could never just stick to a particular genre, I have a wide interest in music - which is by the way why I haven't posted my favorite album, I just cannot chose one because there are so many albums I find exceptionate in their own way. This doesn't mean I am indifferent to what music I listen to, I know exactly what I don't like  :D . However, I love Pink Floyd (born 1975  :P ) and I am not the depressed type, the music seems to create its own dimension and is very very existential.

If you are obscured by the clouds, PF will most certainly not produce relief, but aggravation. If you are on a philosophical journey of some kind, the music will be quite a good companion and take you a long way.

Fat Old Sun was always the one song I didn't like on this album which had nothing to do with the lyrics that are quite elevating indeed, I just never liked Gilmore's singing in that song.
