By sure Karma I just happened to tune into the start of this BBC Series called Around the World in 80 Gardens.

The feature Country was India on this occasion, I tuned in, and I am so glad I did, It was Absolutely FABULOUS.

Some just amazing gardens were shown in Rajasthan area, Taj Mahal,New Delhi, Chandigarth, and also the Hills of Kerala.

Brought back some fantastic memories as they filmed an Amazing garden in Munnar which was part of a Tea Factory, also
they visited a  Private Spice Garden in Thekady, an Area which I also enjoyed very much.

On my most recent visit in Oct 2008, I stayed just outside of Munnar in a little Homestay called Rose Gardens, (actually it's about 10klms before you enter Munnar comming from Cochin) Tommy who owns and runs the place with his wife and
teenage boy has a pretty good little garden with a big variety of Fruit trees and spice plants, including Coffee.Tommy also
Operates Rose gardens as a Plant Nursery.Must Check & see if Iv'e entered in Hotel reviews as yet.

Anyway getting back to the BBC Series, It was sooooooo  good and will definetly try and watch remainder of series covering Different Countries.

A definite Must See.

it was great, especially the rock garden in chandigarh. i loved how he stood there just repeating 'i love it. i love it. i love it.'

i will also try to catch some more episodes, it's a thoroughly pleasant way to spend an hour.

This sounds really good.  But they'll probably never show it in the U.S.  Sigh.

I enjoyed that series too.  It's the reason we put Chandigargh on this year's itinerary.  The Rock Garden hit us in just the same way - we loved every bit of it.  Here's a couple of really good books on it, and it's creator ....

Despite the fact that I pay BBC Tax in the UK (where I stay for about a month a year) I can't watch BBC iPlayer here in India.

All we get here from the BBC is the worst and most embarrassing so-called news channel called BBC World and a load of absolute rubbish on BBC Entertainment.

I don't know how they get away with calling it "Entertainment" because it's definitely not!

The Lodhi garden, Budhajayanti park are two of the many beautiful gardens in Delhi. Another place which is thrown open to public during the spring is the Mughal gardens of the president's place.

Ridge Trivia: if I recall the last panther of Delhi was killed in 1973 or 74 in the jungle facing Budhajayanti park where there is a missile monitoring center or such defense establishment now, it was such a wild place back then.
