Me and my husband  love to travel by car and discover the leangth and breadth of India at our own pace...it seems so comfortable as you can stop wherever you want and visit some not so known places enroute....what is your way of travelling and why do you like it so much?

The problem with cars in India is that there are so many of them and there is hardly a single person here who knows how to drive.

The Road Traffic Officers hand out driving licenses as if they were confetti, and there is no "driving test" whatsoever.

The RTOs simply ask people to drive their vehicle a few metres forwards and then reverse it.  As a result, the number of deaths on the roads is huge.

Drivers can't control their vehicles (their aim is to get into fifth gear as soon as possible and drive as fast as they can), and they don't even know that they are meant to drive on the left.

If you are visiting India, NEVER travel by road at night - even with a good driver.  You are likely to be killed, and if you're simply injured, you'll be left to bleed to death.

I haven't drive by car myself, but I love having a driver! Whether it be hiring a taxi or taking a bus, I am always glad not to be the one trying to navigate thru traffic, and being able to take my attention off the road when we're stuck in a traffic jam... which is often.

Imagine john.sw what will happen when the nano is on the roads...I was already thinking we would have to have multistory parking facilities now because of the amount of cars that would surely double or triple with the nano coming too.....

Jyoti...actually I also do not like being in the driver's seat especially on long journeys because then you are just concentrating on the driving and not able to enjoy the ambiance...

Train is my preferred way of travel. I find its a very relaxed way to travel and you meet very interesting people that way.

I love to drive.... I really like to travel by car As per my opinion by road traveling is good because you can spend time as much as you want. In train, travelling becomes very conditional. By road traveling is very comfortable as you can choose you destinations and time of your vacations.
