Would a movie that is named ‘Shabash Subhas’ or ‘from the Mahanadi to the Rhine’ find takers in the global market place? Netaji is indeed a forgotten hero and there are many aspects of his life still shrouded in mystery. However, Shyam Benegal’s movie ‘the forgotten Hero’ received criticism for calling him ‘forgotten’ when everyone admits that he did not receive the recognition that he should have. Even today, his birthday celebrations are restricted to certain pockets of Kolkata. The mystery surrounding his supposed death in a plane crash in Japan is well known. The other one, regarding his marriage to an Austrian lady Emily Schenkl and their child Pfaff, is also under dispute.

Netaji's marriage controversy takes a new turn

New Delhi, May 17 (2005): The marriage controversy of Subhash Chandra Bose on Tuesday took a new turn with his only surviving personal secretary in Thailand claiming that Netaji had never even mentioned about it to anyone. … The Shyam Benegal movie Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, The Forgotten Hero shows Netaji got married in 1941. He came to Thailand in 1943 and was there for nearly one-and-a-half years. During this time, he never even once mentioned about his marriage, Seth Trilok Singh said. … An Indo-Thai Friendship Association release quoting Seth stated this on Netaji's marriage in the wake of the controversy generated by the movie which showed Netaji married to a German.

However, if someone tries to bring him back to life, at least so that people do not really forget him and his contributions to the freedom struggle, he would be doing the society yeomen service. He could take inspiration from the Munnabhai movie and Gandhi – something similar could be considered. In the age of duplicates, it should not be too difficult to locate a person who resembles Netaji in build.

The Netaji commission had spent years and lakhs of rupees in the name of investigations. Nothing really came out of it. Some time back Pranab Mukherjee had led a delegation to meet Netaji’s daughter but she refused to entertain and literally closed the door on them.
Netaji’s mysterious disappearance made some famous personalities feel comfortable.
