So has anyone seen this film? I see it's available at my local video store so I was thinking of hiring it.

The reviews were unanimously bad. It was generally considered one of the worst movies of the year, if not the decade. Check out the reviews on Rotten Tomato: http://www.rottentom...ritic=creamcrop
Here's a quote from AO Scott of the NY Times: "The Love Guru is downright antifunny, an experience that makes you wonder if you will ever laugh again."
Then again, some people liked it.

Well I went to the local DVD place and Love Guru wasn't one of the films I hired, cheers to my peers here on The India Tree!
I chose to go with The Band's Visit, which I've seen before, but it was a distracted viewing. Hilarious plot and some thoughts for our time
Also got The Children Of Huang Shi which I haven't seen before.
Finally Babel recommended on a trip in September.

Love guru, all thumbs down, not funny at all. No intelligent dialogue or joke, I wasted 290 minutes!

The band's visit is one the very good films that I have watched in 2008. And if you ask the best film I have watched in 2008 it would be Children of Heaven.

Recieved "The Color of Paradise" by Majid Majidi today.
http://www.netflix.c...48?trkid=188469
Will watch it tomorrow hopefully.
Quote
Eight years old and blind, Mohammed (Moshen Ramezani) returns home from school for the summer after nearly being abandoned by his widower father (Hossein Mahjub). Mohammed savors the country (special sound effects capture his acute sense of hearing), but warm days and wildflowers have no effect on his father's mood. Believing his blind son will ruin his chance to remarry, Mohammed's father needs no less than a miracle to have a change of heart.
Will watch it tomorrow hopefully.

Hyderabadi bhai I am sure you will like this film. The sound tracks & back ground chrores of Majidi's films are fantastic and so intensely expressive, much like those by Ray.
