Just in the middle of posh south Delhi colony Sarvopriya Vihar completely hidden from view by apartments is this grand old mosque. Firoze Shah Tughlak of the dynasty of the worst ever ruler in the history of Delhi Giyasuddin Tughlak had got seven mosques built in Delhi. This Begumpuri mosque is one of them.
This mosque was built in the typical Tughlak style, very spartan in appearance but built solidly. Hardly any frill here and hardly any colours. Still the towering cupolas look so beautiful. The immense courtyard and the chambers along the periphery take you back in time.
Hardly anybody visits this mosque and it is a very nice place to spend a winter afternoon away from the hustle basking in the sun and breathing history.

Jyoti da, for a second I thought your post was about Begumpet Mosque!
Also known as the Spanish Mosque, very close to the old Begumpet Airport in HYD:

Believed to be a copy of a similar mosque in Spain, it might have caught the attention of the Paigah noble, either during his eight-month long tour of Europe or he may have stumbled on a photograph. Whatever the source, the Nawab lived up to his reputation of being a great builder having a penchant for creating something unique, as seen from his magnificent hilltop palace of Faluknuma.
