Over two thousand tourists stranded at Rohtang due to snowfall !!!!!
Before the first week of Septmber was over foot high snow caught the tourists and aministration completely unaware.
This year the weather has gone crazy.
Anticipating early onset of winter there are huge discounts on sale of summer clothings in Delhi. Last winter was harsh & long, and with this topsy turvy situation who knows? It may snow in Delhi.

:( I'm stunned.  But not as stunned as the stranded tourists, I'm sure.  How was your rainfall level this past monsoon season, compared to other years?

True Jyoti da.. Even Hyderabad  has recieved excessive rain recently, I'm reading today that there was 4in of rain in two hours. Few days back it was 7 or 8 inches in about the same duration!

Global warming or natural cycle or whatever, climate seems to be changing.

Excess rainfall in 7 districts
HYDERABAD: The State which suffered a 50 per cent deficit rainfall till recently, has finally wiped out the loss and achieved three per cent excess for the season, mainly due to the low pressure areas in the Bay of Bengal that rendered the monsoon 'vigorous'. The State overall received a rainfall of 355.9 mm as against its normal of 344.6 mm by this time of the season. Also, six out of the 23 districts reported "excess" rainfall......

From my experience, early 70's to 80's there used to be plenty of rain and during the 'Numaish' (now known as 'Exhibition') it used to be cold enough for sweaters and later during the Sankranti festival cold enough for early morning bon-fires (a custom) and sweaters. Later on Hyderabad had become dry and hot, the current climate trend has started in the last 3-4 years if I'm not wrong.

Shiver I had visited only one place in your country Galway and I really enjoyed, stayed next to the river Corrib in a beautiful cottage in the University of Galway campus... wonderful company of young students over glasses of that black elixir....

Could y'all send some of that rain this way?  We're having a bad drought in California.  If we don't have good rainfall this winter (our rainy season), I may have to start taking baths with Aquafina.

Please take it! *searches in vain for on knees and begging smiley*

We have had a thoroughly miserable summer and the land is already sodden, so the rains we are having now are causing flooding. In my job, the summers are supposed to make up for working outside in the winter. Not that I can complain, I'll be spending a month in Delhi soon!

Not that I'm excited or anything... :yahoo:

Two days of non stop snowfall in Lahul Spiti in September... one third of the plains of the country under water.
