I wonder if everyone is aware of the Volvo bus service recently started across the country by Raj Travels. These are deluxe buses which ply from point to point at fixed times and provide fantastic facilities to the travellers. Travelling by bus has been one of my primal fears..but looking at what Raj Travels have to offer..it may not be the case for long. Do go through the entire details at:

Also, if someone has already travelled through this service, then your review will be of much use.

I think most of their ideas were non starters, but the service is live and running.

Today in Bangalore, they had an advt in Times of India with a lot more routes than what they claim in the timetable page, which seems to be the most updated page. Other information seems more like a grandoise plan while starting up the idea of such a service.

I took some bus trips.  I think even luxury bus trips are not that comfortable.  Luxury trains are lot easier.  The confinement of a bus seat is the difficult part.  In car, you are confined but you can stop wherever you want as frequently as you want taht make it easier.

I've travelled in some to get to places in Maharashtra...They're cheap and really comfortable. Although you don't have the advantages of a car in terms of stopping anywhere and enjoying the view ..it's still a good alternative if you cannot manage a car to drive around.
It gets damn cold at nights and I think you ought to carry your own blanket as the ones they hand out are usually not washed...
I still feel that travelling by buses is the worst.. Dunno why my snooze attack kicks in all the time..
