I stumbled on a documentary TV series on Indian history covered in 13 episodes. The series was written and produced by the late Arvind Das and I think it was on TV in the late 1990's.
The first link below has a description of each episode, and the second link below will take you to a page with links to each episode on Google Video.
Just scroll down the list in the second link (which includes a bunch of other Indian educational films, many with a science theme) till you get to "India Invented". Click on each episode and you'll be taken to the appropriate film on Google Video. Each episode is about 30 minutes long. You need decent broadband to watch them. So far I've watched the first two - very interesting!

Seem to be valuable enough to save, Dzi. Thanks.

Wow! There are masses of interesting-looking films listed.
Having watched part of the first of the series, I'm going to download all 13 to watch on TV - particularly useful as there's nothing much worth watching on broadcast TV at present!

Strange ! Never was aware of this series. Maybe because it was aired on Doordarshan which most stopped watching with the advent of other private channels. I mean, you have to bear some animosity towards Doordarshan for inflicting you with bizarre programmes like Krishi Darshan and what not when you were a kid.

I'm supposed to be working on a brief right now, but I'm tempted to watch another episode. I have no self-control.
I also want to check out the multi-part science series on that list, after India Invented.

Ooh, that looks interesting, thanks Dzi.
Like you I have very little self control over these things (was it not Oscar Wilde who said the very best way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it?) and I should be logging off soon to study for yet another exam, so I am not even going to start watching. I have saved the links though, and hopefully they won't go boom before I have chance to watch them. *crosses fingers*
