Happy birthday Ma India - may this year be filled with peace and goodwill.

Happy Independence Day to all our lovely Indian friends!

Yesterday here in Bristol (or was it today) they said on the news that a few thousand Pakistanis got together to celebrate Independence day. Now is it me or is there some odd irony in that? ie: Celebrating the end of British rule whilst living under British rule!

Just struck me as funny I guess!
Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

Independence Day 2008 was a special one because the country had, in its midst, the first Olympic Gold medal winner for individual achievement in the sharp shooter youngster Abhinav Bindra. It was a long wait and the country is rightly proud to be among Olympic Gold medal winners – only, one should pause and think whether we could not have bagged many more in the past. It is time that we analyzed our failings and tried to introduce remedial measures. We know where the blame lies and we also know that turning over a new leaf is difficult for those responsible – but, we could at least give it a thought. Quite a difference, previously they were living in India under British rule not as free men, now they live in India, Brittain and elsewhere as free men enjoying all opportunities freedom provides.
