Here's a link to an online version of "New Lives" by Malcolm Tillis. It's about travellers who ventured to India & ended up staying forever or finding their Guru. Malcolm spent years travelling all over India searching out & interviewing these interesting characters.

I thought one chapter might be of interest to one of our regular posters. It's about the author Bill Aitken, a Scottish guy from  Tullibody, Clackmannamshire who set off walking to India overland in a kilt in the late 1950's. He found his Guru & ended up not returning for over 20yrs. The interview takes place in Mussourie, but I suspect he lived in an Ashram somewhere near Almora, since he mentions Lama Govinda Anagarika who settled in Almora. Here it is;
