Bunked office for a few hours to catch Anjan Dutt’s “Chalo” Let’s go with which Osian Film Festival opened today in Delhi.
One of the highlights of this festival apart from the general bonhomie and informal chats with the young directors is Anjan Dutt’s films. Anjan makes just one film in a year and it is always premiered at this festival.
This wonderful film is about 4 young guys who give up setting up a Bangla rock band and embark on setting up a travel company. Their USP is that they will also travel with their clients to places they haven’t been.
Their first trip starts in the hills of north Bengal. As group members Anjan lines up a variety of characters each with his/her hang ups, secrets, guilt and passion. Frequent bungling by the inexperienced youths land them in different and at times difficult situations which triggers someone and he/she stands exposed. The tour ends in Darjeeling. The business goes bust. So it would be the last. Some relations are born, for some lost love is found and for some relations die. The four young guys emerge not so innocent any more.
As usual with all Anjan’s films it has fabulous Bangla folk & rock music.
