Lok adalat (public court) idea was first floated by Delhi traffic police. Saddled with the problem of mounting non-payment of traffic violation fines by Delhi car owners either willfully or for not having recieved the notice, the Delhi police arranged fast track courts in all judicial zones of Delhi.
The courts were open on a designated week end, you went there and queued up at one of the many counters. When your turn came you gave your car registration number to the guy/gal behind the counter. You were handed a computer print out of the notice/notices and assigned a court room number. You went there and a magistrate decided how much you should pay and you deposited that amount and returned home. A normal red light violation fine is Rs.600 but at these adalats you end up paying Rs.100 at the most unless ofcourse your magistrate had a spat with his wife before leaving for work.

Now saddled with the number of pending divorce cases in Delhi a Lok Adalat will be held soon.

Maybe the two should be combined, to save time, energy and aggravation to all parties concerned. :)
'Their people will judge them on what they can build and not what they destroy.
To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent,
know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are
willing to unclench your fist." ~ Barack Obama.
