This year the weather is noticably freaky. We had the longest winter in Delhi and practically no summer. The first week of May saw high temperature like it used to be in mid June and then on rains kept the maximum temp between 35 and 38. Now monsoon has hit Delhi in mid June full 15 days in advance..... never in the recorded history.

I notice here that there is no plain rain... Every weather event these days seems to be 'extreme weather'.

yesterday in perth it was 23C and sunny, today it's about 17 and very grey, windy and incredibly wet!
it's not actually extreme, it's quite a common pattern for winter weather, it's just weird to be sitting outside sipping coffee one afternoon, then huddled over the heater with a book the next!

on the whole, winter days in perth are usually clear and sunny, although cold. but when it rains, it absloutely pours down. much better than those places where every day of winter is grey!

i keep hearing that parts of california and perth have similar climates - i didn't realise they meant at the same time of the year!
18C and sunny today, although we have just had some fairly heavy rain, with a little more forecast for tomorrow. then back to sunshine!

I'm hoping that means it will leave 15 days early, just in time for my arrival in Delhi with "Her Indoors" (Mrs KK) on 11th Aug.

Bhai KK met department has predicted longer monsoon but 11th. Aug is quite far off. Seeing the deluge over the last two days I am afraid of floods this year.

Delhi isn't very hot now. October November and then February March are the best time to visit Delhi and north India in general.

Many parts of Kolkata are waterlogged due to heavy & prolonged rains..... waist deep water in Patna.... I am afraid that we may have serious flood situation this year.

Good. Those are the months this coming winter that we will be passing through Delhi. In December and January we plan to head a bit south to find some winter sunshine in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The flood situation in West Bengal is becoming alarming..... train services disruppted, people marooned....

Four years ago, I was caught in floods in West Bengal. I was going by train from Varanasi to Kolkata and the train was about 6 hours late because of water-logging. Roads were impassable and many parts of Kolkata were completely flooded and inaccessable.

i was in gujarat in early february and the weather was superb - warm and dry. interestingly, the first few nights we were there we needed blankets (only thin ones) and then one night it was suddenly warm. the next day our host asked us if we had felt the weather change, apparently it's an annual phenomenon.!
just is.
