I just uploaded a huge panoramic photo of the Pushkar Camel Fair which also shows Pushkar and the farm land around it. You can view it on the Gigapan.org site, here’s the link to it.

Make sure to check it out full screen too.

Enjoy,

Here’s another large panoramic view showing the golden city of Jaisalmer, on the northwest fringe of India in the Thar Desert. http://www.gigapan.o...pan.php?id=5757

In the Pushkar panoramic did anyone find the 2 camels doing the humpty dumpty thing, you know getting it on, making whoopee?

Enjoy,
Roger Berry

One More,
If you have been to the India Gate in New Delhi but didn’t have time to read the names on it of the India solider that died in World War 1 and the Afghan wars, here’s your chance.

An amazing panorama, Cameleer.  Thanks for sharing.

I especially loved the ghats!

I wonder what happens to all that camel poo? :giggle:

The camel poo is picked up 24 hours a day mostly by young girls and some older women, you will see them carrying it in large pans on top of their heads. It is taken and spread out on the ground to dry; you can see large dark areas with a little fencing around them in the photo. Yes those are camel poo drying locations.

Here’s the town of Pushkar, its holy lake and the Camel Fair at night as seen from up near the Hill Temple.

I’m trying to plan my next trip to India and have been thinking of doing some photography along the Ganga River, most likely around Varanasi (Benares). Someone was recommending doing large nighttime panoramas here.
I would also like to setup a virtual reality tour going down part of the Ganga River. I think most of you have seen my VR Tours like this one that starts out from the Sun Temple overlooking Jaipur.

I’ve added some pop up images on the opening photo of the tour to help people understand how it works.

Anyway, back to my next trip to India. I’m looking for information and advice on good places to do these types of photography. I’m willing to go most anywhere.

Cheers,
Roger Berry

Hampi and the areas round it do look like it would be a very nice place to spend a week or so. Looking at photos around there I didn’t see many tourist, is this kind of off the beaten path? What would be a good time of the year to go there?

Thanks,
Roger Berry

I visited Hampi in June, which was the off season, beginning of the monsoons and we did have a few showers. The ideal time I would say (also for much of South India) is August to Feb/March (end of monsoon -> end of winter).
