Oh Lucky you Shilpa! So what do you call the base of the mountain? Do you mean from Rudraprayag or from Gaurikund? I imagine you mean Rudraprayag which is a shame, because you'll miss Gaurikund.........Oh well! Rudraprayag is a special place too, do make sure you take a walk to the little Shiva Temple up the steps at the confluence, to get Blessings before you leave for Kedar, it's a powerful place where the rivers meet so be sure to soak up the atmosphere......Oh & if you don't mind a couple of pics of the confluence for me would be nice :)  :envy: KK

Helicopter Services To Kedarnath operates from Agastya Muni (distt. Rudraprayag) to Kedarnath. Flights depart from Agastya Muni daily between 6:30 am to 11:10 am, by a 5-seater Bell 407 helicopter.

Gaurikund is the place where the motorable road ends. From here visitors trek to Kedarnath.

Oh What a shame! Well ask your mom to take some photo's for me :( I can't imagine any helicopters could land or take-off from Gaurikund it's on verreeee steep hillsides & densely forested. The base of the mountain starts at Kedarnath itself, so in effect you'd (or your mom) land at the base. :( KK
