Hi there everybody,

I`m new to this forum, but I hope someone has an answer to my question.
I`ve searched for days now but I can`t find anything.

At this moment, I have an assigment for my university in The Netherlands (Europe).
My task is to find out information about spas, wellness centra, salons, and so on.

I already found a lot of info :o  but some remain unclear :o .

- how many spas, salons, wellness centra are there in India? are there any statistics available or does someone know some more info about this?
- how many suppliers are there for all these salons, spas, wellness centra?
- in which city in India are the most spas, wellness centra, salons?

I really hope that someone can help me because i`m desperate :) . This assigment is for my graduation.
Thank you very much in advance! :P

Yours,

John

Wellness centres and salons have mushroomed in all the metros. The spas in India are different than the European concept, not like the ones you have in say Budapest or Austria.
The most famous place in India is the Ananda spa & wellness centre situated in the foot hills of the Himalayas. Check out www.anandaspa.com

For such places in Delhi check out the following:

Thank you very much for replying.

Is there a company in India that holds statistics about the amount of spas, wellness centra and so on?

Here in the Netherlands they have an institute that is called Central Bureau of the Statistics. This institute holds tons of data about market research that has been done. The whole dutch economie depends on this bureau. They also predict future business trends, etc.

There's a big collection of data bases called IndiaStat http://www.indiastat.com/

I don't know whether it includes data relevant to your project and I'm pretty sure you have to pay to use it, but it's probably worth looking into.

well, I`ll contact them if they have a student discount, but I doubt it.

Not sure if this will help, there seems to be an exhibition during NOV/DEC '08 for spa, beauty and fitness products in Delhi:

Quote

PBFI – Professional Beauty & Fitness India Exhibition [formerly known as Professional Beauty India] now in its 3rd edition is the most professionally run beauty and wellness exhibition in India that delivers high value, quality visitors from your target audience.

A highly focused business to business platform, PBFI 2008 is an international showcase for high caliber decision-makers to witness beauty and wellbeing products and services from across the globe. From professional cosmetics, hair care products, skin care products, beauty treatments, spa products and equipment, holistic treatments and wellbeing products, nail care, fitness equipment, beauty products

Contacting the organizers may get you some more leads to get information/statistics.

Hope that helps a bit.

Here's an article that I found while searching that may be of interest to you:

Hmmz that`s an interesting fact about the medispas. That is some usefull info, thnx!

I read about the exhibition last week and already maild them for the info. Hopefully i`ll get an anwser this week.
But unfortunately companies aren`t always keen on helping students, because no one wants to take time to help. Sometimes they forget that they also were students. But you`ll never know :)

and again if anyone has some more info, i`m looking forward receiving it

thnx!

Forgot to say that I also would like to know what a man/women pays for an average haircut, facial or massage. Ofcourse this depends on the club where he or she goes to. But for instance, what do you pay in a small salon, and what do you pay in a very big massageclub with a lot of workers?
