As technology races into the remotest parts of the country, there surfaces newer breed of people who are embracing the latest gadgets. During last Kumbhmela, a photograph that was seen in practically all media was that of a sadhu-baba moving with his cellphone in one hand and a kamandalu in the other, he had the usual bare body, a tangled mass of hair piled high up on his head and seemed to be enjoying the attention he was getting. There was another photograph that showed a sadhu-baba on a motorbike. The latest in the series is one captured in the Ganga Sagar mela currently on in West in Bengal – it shows a sadhu-baba with his laptop. Looks like he has established a direct link with God Almighty! Who knows – chat rooms might soon come up where anyone can approach the sadhu-babas to connect them with their Gods – thereby, their pleas can directly get recorded in the massive super computer maintained in Heaven.
It could become a real money spinner – all the sadhu-baba has to do is to put up a tent with a notice: for direct talks with the God of your choice pay only ten rupees per minute. Then access the net and enter a chat room where the counterpart would be in attendance. He might have names like ‘Bhagwan’ or ‘Devta’ or ‘Messaiah’ or similar names that evoke respect. The laptop owner sadhu-baba would act as the go-between. There would be a queue outside the tent that might be more than that for the actual darshan of the deity and the law enforcement agencies would have a terrible time to control the crowd.

This reminded me of a story, Savitri Satyaban story.
When Satyaban died of snake bite his wife Savitri got connected to God thru meditation. God allowed only one favour but except the life of Satyaban. Savitri conned God by asking a favour that her sons would live happily. No husband no son.....
God gave Satyaban his life.
