Narendra Modi broke into tears after he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat for yet one more term – he was hurt and said that he can never be greater than his party. This was in reply to people who suggested that he wanted to show his strength to his party so that they treat him with greater respect and anoint him into national politics rather than compel him to continue to languish in the state level.
Then there was Rakhi Sawant who broke into tears after she lost out in the reality dance show – she felt that an injustice had been done, she even hinted that the organizers had blocked her SMS line so that she would lose out on valuable votes of the public. It is reported that she has lodged a complaint in the local police station. We regularly see disappointed participants of reality shows break into tears once they fail to make the qualifying grades. Not only the participants but their parents also suffer in front of the cameras. What is the psychology of these tears? The only reason is to influence the targeted persons to sympathize with him. The clock cannot be reversed, neither can the decisions be undone – only, if another chance is given, probably the performance can be re-assessed. In reality shows involving children, such actions have been taken and some participants have been recalled. But, these are exceptions.
Long ago, there was Kapil Dev who had been accused of being involved in cricket betting activities. He also broke down in front of the camera and pleaded his innocence. He has since been exonerated. His case was different.
