I had nothing but trouble choosing ICICI gateway (even at different times).  The transaction went without any hitch  on Citi gateway.  Something to try if you are having problems.

I used American Express and it went smoothly on the first attempt. Somehow, I did not like using a 3rd party (ICICI) for cc processing.

Cheers

& do check the itemised billing you get on your card.  & you'll soon work out which is cheaper, the flat x Rs/ticket on Debit card or the 1.9%? on the Ccard.

Now IRCTC is issuing card in collaboration with SBI. No extra charge. Get one point for every Rs125 spent on the card. It can be redeemed while booking tickets. Also get 10% discount in AC II tickets.

Getways are very much unpredictable. More often I use amex. It is usually OK. ICICI and Citi do give problems frequently.
