I pierced my nose 4 months ago and it still hasn't healed, I have a bump next to the pierced area. I was instructed not to change jewelry until the piercing has fully healed, I have been washing it 2-3 times a day, and soaking in warm water and sea salt.

Please help, any ideas on how to help the healing?

I heard mustard seed oil?

i second that. from my experience with piercings, if you have a lump next to the piercing it's definitely time to visit the doctor.
just is.

Consult a doctor immediately. In olden days a twig of Neem tree used to be worn instead of jewelry which prevented infection and after healing only gold ring was used because of this metal's inertness.

Is it red and painful to touch? A bad sign... Mine got that way for a bit, it finally opened up. A bit of cotton had been inside and it got a little infected--but it was only a couple days. I cleaned mine with rubbing alcohol. That would be a good place to start.

Was the hole torn at some point or bigger than it is now? Sometimes the scar leaves a bump if you let it grow back over, so if there is a chance it's a scar... but if it's not where a hole actually was, I would guess a slight infection. Be careful with that or you may have to start over.

You don't say whether the lump has just developed or whether it manifested itself soon after the piercing. Was gold or surgical steel used?

I do hope you pop back and let us know how you're doing.

Hello,
Not sure where the whole salt water thing came from but honestly you should just be using anti bacterial soap on both the inside and outside of the piercing. I used a Qtip to make sure I got the soap where I needed to and I knew it was clean.

Salt water came in the days before anti-bacterial soap. It serves to lyse (burst open) many bacteria, and hence is a natural anti-bacterial agent.

Sorry...poor choice of words...the salt water rapidly dries the bacteria out, which kills them.
