One of the judges of a music talent hunt reality show has openly accused the TV channel of manipulating results and awarding the prize to a person of their choice. If this has really happened, it is not a healthy sign because those who aspire to make it to the top feel totally demoralized as do their well wishers. Game shows are supposed to be treated as games and, in order to make them popular, there could be initially some selected persons whose enthusiasm could help the channel become popular. However, once the tempo picks up, the stage should be left to the participants and final judgment should be taken on real talent. Reality shows, on the other hand, need to have a certain degree of authenticity. Roping in celebrities on the shows does improve the TRP ratings as does the probably stage managed arguments between the judges. But then, these reality shows should be renamed as game shows since they go against the accepted logic.
