The first Bus to Mysore will be at 4:00 in the morn. The first train will be available at say, 5:00 in morn. There is a steady stream of Buses and Trains to Mysore. Both the railway station and the Bus station are in the same vicinity.

At that late an hour in the airport, I would suggest that you take a Taxi to the Bus stand ( Ksrtc Bus stand and the Area is called Majestic ) . The taxis have fixed rates to different parts of Bangalore. Do ask him to charge based on those rates.

Would it be ok to hang out at Majestic at 2:30 AM or so? Won't it be better to spend some time at the airport and then move out. But I am not aware of the facilities at the international arrival lounge in Bangalore.

Yes, Jyotida, I think it would be better off for them to stay at the airport till, say, 3:00 In morn and then leave for the Bus-stand or Railway station.

The departure time is 11:00 AM, Jyotida. There are other trains that depart much earlier.

It is always better to reach the stations eariler as the railways have a penchant of tinkering with the train timings, every now and then .

I would agree--stay at the airport for some time, then take a pre-paid taxi to the bus stand. The pre-paid booth is inside, before you walk out the main doors. Once you've paid, you only have to give the driver the slip, and he'll take his half and give you a receipt half.  I've gone really late from the airport and taken the pre-paid taxi, and my Indian friends have said that's quite safe even for a single girl alone.

Take a volvo bus to Mysore, if they run that early. They're really nice, AC if it's hot, clean, and run more often than the train. The other buses are ok, but the volvo are really nice and safe. I've traveled alone on that, no problem. Just don't drink anything, ladies!  ;)  you don't wanna have to potty on the side of the road with the guys.

PM me if you want my number in case you have problems or anything. Not that I can do much at 2 am, but I'll probably be around Bangalore.

Thank you everybody! Very useful information!
I think that before exit the airport we can rest a little, change money, go to the bathroom.
Take a pre paid taxi will be a problem for us....we are 5 people and I know that some taxi drivers make difficulties for this.
There are a lot of trains starting from early in the morning and I think that we'll catch one.
Jyoti thank you for the offer  B)  next time I will be around maybe we can meet!

I'm exicted!!  :)
A question for the experts: can I catch a taxi to Mysore directly outside the airport? Prepaid?

I don't know if you can get a pre-paid taxi to Mysore, but you could arrange a Toyota Qualis to take you.

The Toyota Qualis is a good size, and comfortable for five persons and all their luggage.

The cost should be around Rs.400/- per person - better than hanging around in the airport for hours!

i second the "take a taxi" instead of waiting at airport and then railway station for hours...it should take about 3-4 hours to reach mysore at that time in the night.

It will take you atleast 1-1.5 hours to get out of the airport (baggage claim, customs/immigration clearance, taxi line etc,) So barring any flight delays, that puts you at 3:00am. Unless you have already purchased yout tickets, I would advise against travelling with all your luggage to either the bus station or rail station and trying to work out the logistics of purchasing the tickets and getting on the right bus/train -- especially if this is your first few hours in India.

BTW, the Taxi will be much MORE expensice that train/bus.  But, will definetly be more convenient.  Again, make arrangements in advance and have the driver wait to pick you up at the airport.

Well, thank you every body! I think that I will try to make the trip by taxi, but I have to arrange for it on arrival.
Hope every thing will be all right.....
In the end, only three of us will fly away (me, hubby and my nephew) cause of my mum accident, either her and dad can't come with us! She is so sad!!
