I came across this whilst browsing the net, these caves look like a real hidden treasure, So have any of our members visited here before???
Go2india is a good site for browsing what India has to offer as is the Outlook Traveler, you'll find both the links below, Outlook does pretty good pocket guides to the Himlaya, Weekend Breaks, Hill Stations, Heritage sites etc etc. Buy them in India where they cost about 200 Rupees
I also wondered if anyone had been from Visakhapatnam to Arakku, this train goes through the highest broadline railway station in India at Shimiliguda at 996 meters above sea level, can you stay here? It sounds like a great escape from the heat of the plains!

Cyber,
I was there few years ago with my son. The visit is very interesting especially Udayagiri caves, form Bhubaneshwar is a short wallk.
Next month I'll stay eight or ten days in Jagdalpur (Dusshera Festival) but probably i'll be moving to Bhadrachalam by car and not taking the train to Vizag because is a great detour and Arakku Valley seems interesting but not that much.
The web page from Outlook Traveller is now more complicate than before when it was absolutely free and open to everybody.

Khandagiri caves are easy to visit as they are within the city limit of Bhubaneswar.
Araku is an excellent place to spend your holidays.

Both the places are worth visiting.
Hope our member Abhijit posts about Araku valley in details.
The eastern part of India has many gems unspoilt by mass tourism.
