It's like having your own mobile wi-fi hotspot, in a car, in a train, in a bus, in a 'off the beaten track' place......unlimited possibilities.. will it work in India? I don't know.

Can any one answer that?

I think that there are issues with the wireless frequencies used in India - some that are legal in other countries are illegal in India.

Apart from that, I don't see any reason why this router wouldn't work - but you'd need to replace the telephone cord for an Indian one!
