Hi,
I haven't flown with them myself, but there is a great site called Airlines Reviewed http://www.airlinesreviewed.com/ where users can post there experiences and it covers most major airlines.
One reviewer called Gulf Air "Gulp Air" because they claimed that they reduced the amount of oxygen on the plane to keep passengers quiet and sleepy.
Interesting

I have flown Gulf Air several times to Kathmandu via Doha, in fact I've been made a Frequent Flyer (lol).
It's fine and really no different to any other airline.
I think middle-east airlines are well-run - makes sense, lots of money around

I guess I will be finding out shortly - in 11 days to be exact - flying JFK(American) - Heathrow - Muscat - KTM. I'll report back here with my impressions, if I survive that is...
In a way the reduced oxygen is a good thing, maybe I'll be able to sleep en route for once... Also, on the Kathmandu flights, gets people ready for high altitude conditions...

Yeah.. the cheap seats at the back get less oxygen that is why I always walk up & down the aisle... helps to sooth the calf muscles & also get more oxygen. I am thinking of visiting South Africa if any one can give me advice I will be gratefull. BTW do they serve alcohol????
