Hi all
Myself and my brother need to know if anybody has came across firewalking in India.
If so where and when and also will they let people participate.
We are heading of to Asia for 12 months and have a self funded/created site called www.101challenges.com
We will have to do 101 challenges nominated by visitors to our site. One of which is Firewalking.
Obviously this is one challenge where we need professional help in attempting otherwise it may be more of a cremation than a walk. So if you can help then please share the info.
Much appreciated
Lee

Welcome to the Tree Lee! The best of luck with ALL your challenges - and in particular the fire-walking. I'm sure someone here will be able to point you in the right direction, or tell you you're completely nuts (in the nicest possibe way, of course
)
Great website too, by the way.

Firewalking is most typically done in the temple festivals in Tamil Nadu. Google is normally throwing up links from the tamil diaspora in other countries, mainly Singapore.
Try some of the links here.

One temple festival which I know rather well

You can research the tamil nadu tourism page and contact one of their mail id's for better information and schedule.

I have seen several firewalks by Sadhus and it still gives me chills, I wonder what chemicals they use! This one I think you will have to learn in person!

I've seen this done on Mohurrum, a Muslim festival in my village.
I believe that the layer of moisture between the firewalker's feet and the extremely hot charcoals and the speed at which they walk is what does the trick.
As for the chemicals, nfl bhai, that may be a different topic!
