Not sure if this is much interest to you 2 wheeler folks but I quite fancy doing this myself one day!

Enduro India

Have a look round, it looks interesting and is obviously extremely popular!

This one seems to really gud. But just wondered.. if any of the riders would have liked to travel solo..
I do intend to take up a group of non Indian riders.. .who want to enjoy the real adventure where there are no backups and its all real with what they see.

That does look pretty good, if a little expensive.  Perhaps this is something like crvlvr is looking for.

Hey LovemaX:  great to see you found us!!  I have a feeling that a tour with you really will be an adventure and not for the feint of heart :D

Well I ride Solo and I love it. The  and max group I've lead is of 18 bikers and I attempted leading group of 30 riders, it was a disaster. yes we had few first timers I didn't know about about them before I knew they were trying to do all sort of things on their bike between mandi and Kullu. I had to throw them out of the group.
But no offence meant but given the finance they charge, give me 60% of it, I can do a better job for motorcycle tours.

If I am in the area I would love to join other Bikers on a run!

I am not under time constraints so I probably would prefer laid back runs as opposed to getting from A to B in such and such a time! But I would catch you up at stop-overs anyway if that goal was the objective!

I agree with you HowieUk, that's why I prefer doing it alone its not that I cannot lead but there are no more serious riders left who could understand the joy of riding @ 50 km/h on the hills. The younger lot wants to reach their destination ASAP ut when we used to ride we used to say 'how late can we reach while cruising @ 40Km/H:
Thay era is gone now its the destination that matters and people proclaim riding to & fro Leh in48 hours as a big feat, in my days it was madness. we just had enough money to take our bike in Khardungla, that's it.If I can't do it now,  I'll not have money to do it n next 5 yea
rs. But now things have changed anyone  can do it. I can do it on my bicycle
ok gotta go...part II coming soon

My philosophy entirely!

50km/h is a perfect speed for observation of ALL that is going on around you! (in some instances too fast!!)

HowieUK; I'm and I assume you too are in minority, not many bkers left with that state of mind. Let me know your plan, I'd love to ride with you.

Maybe we should start up a slow-rider bikers run!

Seriously though I will let you know when I am heading up North, dates are slightly hazy at the moment but not too far into the year anyway! And it would be brilliant to ride with friends that have the same attitude, about "The Beautiful M/C!"

Howie, from another thread I see you are doing it the opposite way... heading north in winters !!!! people go down south in winters

Hoping to make it  back up North for the last 6 or so weeks of the season this year - Would love to be there at weather change time!
Yes! the South/North question relating to where I will be hasn't yet been 100% decided hence the confusion, yet going the opposite way to the traffic appeals to me!  I have some places that I should go to but they are in opposite ends of the country so a decision will have to be made pronto! (to cut one or the other out of the equation I think!)
South may be put on hold! (decisions, decisions!)

looked like fun, till I saw the price tag.. 3,850 pounds!!. for 10 days..  plus from the photos, the tour group seems alittle too large from my taste. any group of more than say 5 riders adds too many complications, IMHO.

ok.. I finally found the website I was looking for .. take a peek http://himalayanoffroad.com/

lately I had been thinking on the similar lines, infect on the last trip I didnt even go above 90 at any stage(a cut away from my style of riding)! I guess riding non stop for hours at end, rather then speeding for few, works better for me :P

Well you can contact VinayVerma motocycle tours ltd. of you want. Its not that difficult to organize a motorcycle tour, the entry barriers are low for anyone. I know where to hre bikes, I know the main stops on the roads (it can be customised as per the choice of the customers), I know good mechanics on the road and at various places, I know the routes, ...well in short I can do it. The only issue is getting a long leave from my employer, although they are very generous and give me 4 weeks of paid holidays a year.

3850 pounds, nice fat profit there. Maybe I should get in to this, but then again it will take out the charm of the ride. Guess I will stick to small group rides with friends or going solo

Those trips do look interesting -- definitely a nice way to see Bhutan or Tibet!  Since the organizer is based in Nepal, I wonder if they are still able to operate as they don't show any trips for 2006.

______________________________

I've done most of my riding solo and am pretty laid back when touring as time is usually not a concern -- I don't ride in the rain or at night unless absolutely necessary, and I like to get into a 'groove' speed where I'm not fighting traffic and the bike feels unstressed whether it is on quiet twisty roads or the open road.  Heavy traffic changes things of course, and I always prefer the road less travelled unless I can get through the dull spots in a hurry.  It has been 11 years since I did the long Indian Bullet trip, and I'm hopeful that road improvements have at least offset the huge increase in vehicles on the road and that life would be easier with a more reliable bike with decent brakes.  I don't think I'd like being part of a large group, but riding with a few compatible riders would probably add to the enjoyment as well as reducing the concern about being stranded by a breakdown, flat tire, or accident.  I've only taken shorter rides out of Goa and had the comfort of a reliable bike, pretty good roads, and a 'run-flat' rear tire.

I'll comment more about bikes on Howie's other thread -- some of my photos are on another computer which isn't hooked up right now.
