Why wouldn't it surprise me iat all if at least some (if not all) of her kids had been so diagnosed?  :whistling:

I think if a person on welfare in the U.S. used his/her benefits to buy a ticket to India for a six-month vacation he or she would end up in jail for welfare fraud.  Certainly there'd be wide-spread howling from the public and politicians, and "inquiries" would be made.  And, in addition to welfare issues, someone in Ms. McKeown's position might even be facing a proceeding to remove the other children from her care.

John that doesn't correlate with the DWP official figures, Someone in Fiona's case would receive around 16000 a YEAR with a further 2.440 IF she has a a disabled child (couldn't find any mention of) ODD or ADHD qualifying as disabled, more journo embellishments methinks)

This works out to around 361 a week IF she is in receipt of the disablement allowance, which hasn't been proven in this case.
This would work out to 320 a week,
Child benefit can only be taken abroad for 8 weeks in most cases and income support for 4, so you see the figures quoted are a load of rubbish,  at best she will receive around 11000 for any given fiscal year, even the air tickets are likely to cost somewhere in the region 3000+, leaving around 8000 GBP for travel and living expenses for a whole year, a budget of around 153 GBP per week. with 9 mouths to feed even in India you would struggle with that if you were traveling around.

These figures are rounded figures and there are many ways in which the DWP can reclaim some of these funds, like if she pays no rent for her caravan then she won't receive any housing benefits etc etc Kids over 16 etc etc.
These kind of stupid elaborations are a constant in Britain. the truth if the matter is, that not many live in the lap of luxury on benefits, that's just what mean spirited people would have you believe.
I'm also against the misuse of the benefits system, it's supposed to be for people who really have hit hard times. The trouble is how to test the authenticity of claimants. I would NEVER vote for a blanket removal of benefits, it's counter productive in so many ways.
As far as kids go well it strikes me as kind of weird that we constantly look at countries like India/China and wax lyrical about how they should have less kids, yet we award people in our own country who do the same. Very strange!
I would first look at the estimated 30 billion in unpaid taxes of the rich and famous before looking to adjust the social safety nets

Like I said crappy journalism  :whistling:

heck, if the person "saved" the welfare money to finance the trip, they've got enough fiscal discipline, I'd say.  Given the circumstances of "alternative lifestyles" living arrangement of the said person, I think the source of the money is something else?

Credit cards?

Worked out to 23000 John IF you qualify for tax credit, which is doubtful as she doesn't live full time in the UK therefor pays no social security premium, so the figures are only marginally better than I said and don't approach 35000, take off the council tax which she WILL be liable for and for the whole year and your already 1300  down at least, six month loss of benefits takes out another 2500 or there abouts, flights 3-4000+ depending on how old they are.
So around 15000 to feed & clothe 8 kids and go to India for 6 months, Ok it could be done but it won't be much of a life. This is Always providing you get those tax credits!!!
Any maintenance payments will impact the benefits you receive too.
Don't get me wrong here I'm certainly NOT defending the woman, IMHO she's on the fiddle somewhere

Judi sure there are people who can play the system but trust me most don't have a good life on the dole, I've done it years ago and it was hand to mouth living!
I'm also not sure I agree with tax credits just because you have kids, after all they're not all immaculate conceptions you do have a choice, if the choice is subsidised. then some will abuse the system.
