Hi,

I think of booking me in in one of these. They are from the same sister concern, and located next to each other. They seem very similar, when cheking out the website, so that I wonder if these two are the same? They even offer airport pick-up which is very convenient when arriving little spaced out from the long yourney and in the middle of the night :clapping: The price is also what my budget asks :o

(the ajay guesthouse which is also on their site, is on the other side of the street)

Anyone been in the Anoop or Hare Krisha? Since I will spend my first days there after flying in from home, I hope to have a clean room with light (i.e. not dark) and rather calm place. The rooftop restuarant is atrracting I have to say ;)

I have stayed in the same area but at Hare Rama Guesthouse which is opposite Ajays in the same narrow lane.  Refer to map/location on the Anoop webpage.

Hare Rama is friendly, cheap and has a good rooftop cafĂ© but most rooms lack outside windows.  Lots of Israelis stay there and everyone seems very content.

My only criticism of these places would be that they are a bit noisy firstly because they have so many rooms plus there's an all night rooftop restaurant.
There are better options on Paharganj!!

What's your favourite then, cyberhippie? :balloon:

What I like: that I can also eat in the hotel or at least a social room for meeting other travellers. Good location is also nice, but I guess all in Paharganj is OK..

I've stayed for Years in The Star Paradise, which suits my needs, (doesn't look like the website photos though) it doesn't have a common area for meeting people as such but just outside the main door to the hotel, there's the Everest bakery which is a sociable little place.
The rooms are around 700 for a AC double room!!
Others will add their favorites in due course!

Hmm, since I will be traveling for a long time I try to put my budget lower, so 700 is too much for me if I can have something rather decent for 250-350. Thanks anyway!
The tibetan area hotels f ex Wongdhen house also looks nice - maybe I will have a look there once I am in delhi and change if I want a more silent place :)

Well Bumblebee.. If that's the budget then you will find the Anoop/Hari Krishna fine, i think for the firs time traveller there great the 24hr Cafe is bonous for meeting people... And the foods not that bad either....
Travel lightly......

You can get a room in the Star Paradise a bit cheaper this time of year, I'd imagine. I think I paid 400 or 500 for a/c in July last year. I needed the a/c that time, too. 40+ degrees. :)

If you want to stick to Rs. 250 a night, the Hotel Namaskar's a reasonable option. The staff seem to have got a bit pushy since I first went there but the rooms are clean and you get your own bathroom.

If you stay in the Tibetan colony, will you let us know how you got on? I've always wondered what it's like over there - quite a few people seem to be heading over there as a quieter alternative to Paharganj these days.

Next door to the Star Paradise is the Hotel Downtown which is a great option for 200-250 with bathroom and cable TV.

By the way I'm not sure how far along they are but I hear the Tibetan colony's days are numbered as much of it is an illegal structure!

Hi, been in Anoop hotel, Delhi since a few days. Indeed a boxed in feeling like the Lonely planet says but rather ok for the rest. Internet facilities etc..
Only prices are higher than the website indicates (600 ac)..

600 for a/c's gotta be worth it at this time of year.

You must be melting right now.

Thanks for coming back and telling us what it's like, btw.

One of my main bugbears is with people that use boards like these to ask loads of questions and then never come back to spread the info around. You've returned the favour - nice one. :)

Keep having fun, Bumblebee - I like the photos on your blog.
