We are currently planning our India trip and were wondering whether it is wise (safety, crowds) to fly in or out of India on Republic Day  :whistling: . Do things get pretty hectic that day and/or are longer waiting times expected?

:)

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

Did you mean Independence day? August 15, 2007, or Republic Day Jan, 26, 2008.

I had flown in 1999 Independence day. Did not feel any larger crowds, but security guys were little more alert than usual.

Thanks for your response, noflylist. I mean Republic Day in January 2008.

No problem at all. Civilian flights are held up for a while for the airforce planes to do flypast.
