Situated at an altitude of 1850 meters in the Syahi Devi hill Sitlakhet is another gem in Kumaon.

It is a short drive away from Almora & provides stunning view of the snow capped mountains.

There is a KMVN tourist lodge and a raj style forest bungalow complete with fire place and easy chairs.

You can simply take out an easy chair to the front lawn & gaze at the mountains whole day basking in the Sun. In the afternoon take a walk in the reserve forest just behind the bungalow.

We have seen foxes there. I was told that a resort has come up near here & I am really disappointed.

This place was once my escape to complete peace & seclusion.
