It seems, that Jet Airways on their way to the European Market wants to introduce new practices: A quality airline  offers in case of  an offload at minimum an adequate compensation and does everything to get you to your final destination as fast as possible.  Not so Jet Airways. They call  themselves “India's most preferred airline” but Jet does not only refuse any kind of financial compensation, I had also to pay more than 600 $ to minimize the delays and troubles created by an offload on a flight Kathmandu-Delhi. So my tip: if you want a reliable and punctually flight without any incalculable extra charges: Do not fly Jet Airways!!

Not sure you can generalise them because of one event.  I have flown twice with them and found them top notch, others may have had good or bad experiences, I have mostly good experience with Deccan but also had a couple of bad ones too, same goes for any airline.

Who are you planning to fly with next?

Anyway, welcome to The India Tree, would you like to introduce yourself or did you just need to join and vent ?  :sweating:
Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

Yes, welcome to the Tree mars...........and do tell us about yourself and your interest in India - not just Jet :D which, if the truth be told, I had no complaints at all with their service.  Maybe I was just lucky.  :sweating:

Just curious....is your name a reflection of what's to come? :sweating:

Hi Mars,

Tell us what happened and why ... a little more detail.

Is that 600 US Dollars ... if so seems a lot, you could fly to the UK for that!!!

I have flown Jet a couple of times, both on full flights and from what I could gather no one was bumped off the flight.

On these so called Budget/cheaper airline you pay your money up front and there is no refund if you cancel ... so there is no reason to over book - I am not sure if Jet operate like this or not.

All airlines (including Jet) have to pay compensation (You must check-in on time etc) if flights are cancelled or if you get bumped or face a long delay ... The form of compensation may vary.

I flew Air India from Callcutta to London last week and the flight was 7 Hours late, we were given 2 good meals at the airport and since we would be arrriving in the UK at 1am (All transport systems closed), a hotel for the night, breakfast  + a taxi there.

Dave

i suspect that the OP is one of those who join to complain about something (for whatever reason) and are never heard from again.

as everyone else has positive comments to make about jet i wouldn't place too much faith in it.
just is.

Overbooking policy is linked to the type of ticket. Even if it is Jet airways, if you pick  up some special offers there would be the small print on no reimbursement and alternative arrangements.
