Kaudyala is a small village, little more than a way-side stop on the road between Rishikesh and Devaprayag. It is the type of place that you would normally pass through on the way to somewhere else. This was our plan however fate determined that we spent a couple of nights there.

We booked into the River Camp Hotel that consisted of a group of shacks on a ridge with the Ganges flowing directly below. The view from the balcony was delightful and the food from its small restaurant of a high standard.

The village consisted of not much more than a few stalls, a couple of restaurants and a outfit offering rafting and rock climbing excursions.

Kaudyala was a nice spot to spend a couple of days just to chat with the locals, stroll along the river tracks, and breathe the mountain air; or just to watch the river flow.
