writer looking for a peaceful and beautiful place in west karnataka or Goa.
"peaceful" means no traffic noise, being able to hear birds sing and leaves rustle in the wind. as few humans as possible.
"beautiful" means no pollution, no garbage lying around, movement of water (river or sea), lush vegetation and healthy vibrant wildlife.
I know this is a lot to ask in this extremely polluted and over-populated country, but...any suggestions?

Yes some parts of India is polluted but calling the whole country "extremely polluted" is streching it a bit far.....

Well, just a few days before I left India last October I stayed at Wild Canopy Reserve which is between Mysore and Ooty. I also write a little and actually said to my partner that if I ever wanted somewhere to go and chill out and write then this would be the perfect place and I do intend to go back.
It is completely secluded, it's not a resort full of people with big cameras and that is the way they are planning to keep it. There are no fumes, no noise apart from the odd honk from a wild elephant and the thousands of monkeys. Strangely enough there are no mosquitos either, we stayed in tree house with open sides and never got bothered.
Thats my recommendation, I'll write a proper review when I have time in the hotel section but here is the link to the website. Wild Canopy Reserve
Cheers

Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

yes, absolutely wonderful places indeed. thank you.
I did find a most magical place in north Goa on the chapora river (15km inland) that is exactly what I was looking for, but as it will become available only in a few months, i'd still love to hear if someone has any other suggestions.
