TV will do just about anything to sell a show.
I haven't watched BB since the very first show which started here in The Netherlands (the name is still owned by Endemol I think)

What a waste of an opportunity! Surely a hot city with millions of people must have had some rotten fruit and veg they could have spared for her arrival??

Cannot believe that this non celebrity munter of a woman drives a freaking Bentley Convertible, what's wrong with the world?

How on earth did she make all this money........just from BB??

A Bentley Convertible  - such a classy car for a very unclassy lady. You have to admire her chutzpah :P or whatever it is she seems to have.

For Hyderabadi http://en.wikipedia....her_(TV_series)

For Priya http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Jade_Goody

She's listed as a businesswoman which is laughable, she can barely string an understandable sentence together!

It is about causing the maximum of controversy to draw viewers in, without actually getting the programme banned.

I have watched it only once, when visiting a friend's house. It showcases the very worst of British "culture" and I am frankly embarrassed to learn that it is being shown in India. :P

I might have written it earlier... when we were kids we were advised to learn etiquettes and manners from the Brits and then John said that last Brit should turn off the light before leaving

The first BB was at the hinter end actually quite good, it was pioneering experimental TV, there was no need to cultivate emotions, nobody knew if it was even going to be popular. The inmates were pretty normal and really had no idea if anyone had even bothered to switch them on.

Looks like Andy Warhols everybody has 15 minutes of fame has just been dragged out of all context ,he would be laughing in his grave at it.. But a sad indication of the state of British society i ever seen one, Big Brother, along with been a single mother is now seen as a viable option, what ever happened to getting a job and working ....

Even my favorite reality show, The Amazing Race (the only one I watch, actually - well, OK, I confess to also watching Survivor, but not religiously  ) succumbs to the temptations of sensationalism by selecting at least a few teams of wack-o's every season: brawling couples testing whether they should "stay together" (the answer is invariably "no" and is usually apparent after about 10 seconds); dysfunctional teams where one is overbearing and berates the other constantly (these can be either couples or parent-child teams, or even "friends" - painful to watch), and annoyingly gimmicky teams, like phoney hippies or Goths. All of them provide a certain entertainment value, but usually I just want them to break their necks in the next bungey jumping task or whatever and go away.

What does it say about us that we - or some of us - enjoy the spectacle of such dysfunctional and often distasteful behavior? I don't think I want the answer to that question.

I followed survivor first season, then it got boring. Big brother never watched more than 10 minutes.

Too bad, now Indian version will teach each other how to be more boorish!

cooking shows, and i'll stretch gordon ramsay to fit into this category, i quite enjoy, although after a few episodes of ramsay i find the constant aggro and swearing puts me off. give me jamie oliver or nigella any day. or, even better, an australian cooking show called 'the cook and the chef.'

i have watched a few episodes of the amazing race (if they are in india) but the rest i make a point of not watching. we have australian big brother and it is appalling, pretty much like the others around the world seem to be. quite honestly, if i want to watch drama i'd rather watch fiction, it is usually better scripted and acted than any reality tv show.

dzi - i think some people need to get a life, not just sit and watch other people's on tv.

smt - do you swear and curse your way around your kitchen? with your current avatar i can certainly imagine it! but more in a jack sparrow kind of way (i hope).
just is.
