My wife and I needed some dental work and even though we are covered by a dental plan in Canada, crowns still cost $500.00 per.
We discussed getting work done in India but were unsure.
We arrived in Panaji Mar. 25th and stayed at Afonso Guesthouse. The folks there are great and we asked about a dentist. They recommended theirs. We met with the dentist (who had a sense of humour and played country music in his office) He provided a list of work needed and gave us a price. To make a long story short we stayed about 16 days.
We visited most of the beaches in North and Central Goa between dental visits, met some great local people, sampled a lot of fantastic locl food and the cost of the dental work was about 1/4 of what it would cost in Canada.
That was a month ago and everything is still where it should be.
I would have no concerns about doing this again except most of my teeth are now crowns!

Has anyone been to this Goan Dentist? Any reports? I am thinking of getting some work done, but would like to hear any reports (good or bad) on this guy.  I know he was answering dental health questions for a while on another forum and he seemed nice, but a first hand report would be useful.

Thanks!

Dave

Yep a friend and member here on TIT used him in January and was happy with his work and price. I seem to remember he specialises in some treatments and has a partner he farms out the rest to!
All in all very good and I've heard other good reports!

My two front teeth have been crowns since 1985 but were falling apart for the last few years.

To get them removed and replaced in UK I was quoted just under £900 gbp.  I had them done here in Bangalore at what I regarded a far better surgery and dentist at a cost of just Rs9000 and that included a full check up and a one hour appointment to clean and polish the others.

This was 18 months ago and I have no problems at all.

When you think about it, I could have taken a 2 week holiday to India from home, done lots of activities, had my teeth done and gone home with just about enough money left for a Starbucks at Heathrow, well maybe a small one

Medical Tourism, great idea, Poland is doing well out of it since Ryanair started flying there!

Cheers

Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

Malkers, could you tell me the name of your dentist in Bangalore?  My dentist appt is long overdue, and I'll be in Bangalore next month.
