World Heritage Tour is making a documentary image bank with panoramic pictures and interactive virtual reality movies for all sites registered as World Heritage by the UNESCO.

The panoramas are fantastic!

The green garden hose is ok, but where is the ubiquitous red plastic chair?  :)

Wonderful site, John.

There's some great Himalayan ones - have a look at this one of Kala Patthar in Nepal. :)

This is seriously addictive.  I love the fact that you can also pan up and down.

Ace! I'm thinking of getting the Pentax Optio WP because its just a point and click and it can do panoramas (have a look on this site for some examples) http://www.theworldi...t.com/panoramas They look really good. Anyone got one?

Those panos are very good, but as for myself I like showing people, animals and everyday life along the busy streets. Here’s a page showing Bikaner that’s not finished yet but all of the QuickTime panos are working.
Some of these panos were taken from on top of a 17 foot pole to really give you a good overview! Others are more up close and personal to really give you a feel of being there.
http://www.camelphotos.com/India.html

btw I'm getting a new setup so on my next trip to India I can take much better panos.
Hope you like them.

Sorry, I forgot that link won’t work because this forum changes the lower case I in India to upper case.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
yes, supermod to the rescue! :giggle:  all I did was edit it and change the I back to lower case.

The link still didn't work when I clicked it, so I just typed it directly into the URL box and it worked.

Wow!  Those photos are fantastic!  Talk about about having a sense of really being there!

I did have to laugh at myself, though, because when I panned down in the "Camel Closeup" shot, I said to myself "what's that guy doing? what's he looking up at?  what's that "CP" thing he's holding?"    Oh, duh ... that's YOU!  :(

I still need to add audio to the 360 panos and finish up the rest of the page links, but this all takes a lot of time and I just do it as a hobby. When I get the video clips and slideshows done you will be able to enjoy the feeling of being there even more.
Most times I will remove myself from the shot, it gives it more of a feeling of you’re the one who’s there.

I also have one more page that I'm working on that shows the Pushkar Camel Fair: http://www.camelphot...om/pushkar.html
As you will see, I'm changing a copy of the Bikaner page over to the Pushkar page one 360 pano at a time.

Great stuff, cameleer!

I wish I knew how to add 360-degree panoramas to my blog.

Do you need a special camera or is it a software thing?

The easiest way to do these panos is with a DSLR camera and a Sigma 8mm F3.5 fisheye lens. It’s best to use a pano head which you can make or buy for under $200. Take 4 photos around and stitch them using a program like Ptgui, then use another program like Pano2qtvr to turn it into QuickTime for viewing as a 360VR pano.
When I started out I was using a Canon 20D with a 10-24mm lens and had to shoot 17 photos to make a 360VR pano. Then I got the Sigma 8mm F3.5 lens and I could do it with 4 photos. I just recently got the Canon 5D and Nikon (Nikkor) 10.5mm F2.8 lens and can now do high quality ones with only 3 shots.

Zoomify is something else that I want to start using and it now comes with Photoshop CS3.
Here’s an example of what it does.
